Benefits of Education Revolution Taking Shape

Senator Helen Polley and State Labor Candidate for Denison, Scott Bacon, visited schools in Hobart on Friday to view the progress of construction projects funded under the Building the Education Revolution as part of the Economic Stimulus Plan.

“The Building the Education Revolution has delivered over $93 million to 51 schools across Denison.” Senator Polley said. “This commitment will deliver 108 projects and provide a long-term, bricks-and-mortar benefit to those schools and the communities that centre on them.”

Senator Polley and Mr Bacon together visited The Friends School, St Virgil’s School, St Mary’s and St Michael’s Collegiate and viewed a total of 9 projects achieved through $10.24 million of funding.

“I am greatly impressed with how creative each school has been in ensuring great value for money whilst delivering the best possible improvements for their students.” Senator Polley commented. “It is clear that this funding has made a tangible difference to these schools.”

“The legacy of the Building the Education Revolution funding will exist to benefit the Denison community for decades to come.” Mr Bacon stated. “This funding has come at a crucial time when our education sector was crying out for renewal and a commitment by government to the provision of quality learning infrastructure.”

That commitment has been delivered and Denison is beginning to see the results of that commitment brick by brick.

“The next step is to continue to focus on quality learning to go with the infrastructure.” Mr Bacon concluded.
