LIBERAL PARTY KICKS OWN GOAL ON INTERNAL POLLING LEAKS
The Liberal Party has been left red faced following the leaking of their internal Federal polling for Bass
The polling if correct shows a massive 6.5% swing against the Liberal Party in Bass since the 2007 Federal election.
Labor Senator for Tasmania Helen Polley said the Liberal Party has somehow sought to make political capital over a perceived improved showing in their primary vote in Braddon and Lyons.
However the same group of figures released by the Liberal Party shows their primary vote in Bass has dropped from 43.5% to 37%.
This is an embarrassing mistake from the Liberal Party. Why would they want to trumpet a collapse in their primary vote in Bass?
If this figure was replicated on polling day this year Labor would be in a strong position to retain Bass with an increased margin.
Senator Polley said that while Bass is always a very tough contest, Federal Labor is proud of its record in delivering significant local improvements particularly in the health sector.
With a strong health advocate like Geoff Lyons standing as the endorsed Labor candidate the Bass community can be assured these improvements will continue under a re-elected Rudd Labor Government.
