TASMANIA TO BE INCLUDED IN THE VICTORIA CROSS TOUR
Senator Helen Polley and Senator Carol Brown, Labor Senators for Tasmania today welcomed the announcement by the Federal Minister for Veterans Affairs and Minister for Defence Personnel, Alan Griffin, which saw the inclusion of Tasmania to the Victoria Cross medal tour.
“I am delighted that Tasmania will be included in the tour, it means a great deal to Tasmania and to our veterans as well as their families,” Senator Polley said.
Senator Carol Brown said that it was a great result that Tasmania would be included as part of the Gallipoli Victoria Cross National Tour.
“The Gallipoli Victoria Cross National Tour is an excellent opportunity for Tasmanian’s to view a part of our military history,” Senator Brown said.
‘This Company of Brave Men: the Gallipoli VC’s Tour’ will be at the Tasmanian Museum in Hobart from the 19th of November to the 17th of December, before returning to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
Senator Polley said “it is pleasing to see that Tasmanians will have the opportunity to view the Victoria Cross medals of Gallipoli veterans and I appreciate the decision by the Australian War Memorial to include Tasmania in this important tour.”
“I urge Tasmanian’s to take the time to attend the Victoria Cross medal exhibition,” Senator Brown said.
“I would like to thank my House of Representative and Senate Labor colleagues and all others who lobbied for the inclusion of Tasmania in the Victoria Cross medal tour,” Senator Polley said.
